Production of moulds for cosmetic packaging.
What is exclusive packaging?
Exclusive packaging is generally considered to be packaging produced according to the customer's specifications (prototype, drawing, sketch), where the packaging will be manufactured exclusively for that client. This type of packaging is distinguished by its unique design, high-quality materials, and often unconventional technical solutions. Its production requires the creation of a custom mold. At MIRAN, mould design and production are carried out under one roof, ensuring high packaging quality from the design stage.
When do brands need exclusive packaging:
▪︎ Protect your design from copying and imitation (for example, if your bestsellers are being imitated, diluting your sales, it's worth considering a unique design that's difficult to replicate with mass-produced packaging).▪︎ To better differentiate yourself from competitors. Most companies in the market use standard shapes, and in a highly competitive environment, it can be difficult to create a truly unique design – in this situation, exclusive packaging can help.
▪︎ If your future product line has sales potential of several hundred thousand packages per year, then the cost of mass-produced and exclusive packaging is comparable with sales in the millions, so it makes more sense to use exclusive (branded) packaging. If you're investing large budgets in brand promotion, start with memorable packaging! If you're entering new (foreign) markets, your current packaging may not meet the tastes and demands of your audience. You need to study the competitive environment, consumer patterns, and cultural codes, and develop packaging that suits the market.
If your product features innovations, including application or extraction methods, an unusual form factor, a unique consistency for the segment, or unique properties, you should consider developing packaging that suits the market. While standard packaging options are often suitable for standard products, exceptional products require original and innovative solutions.
Key features of the exclusive packaging:
1. Individual design for clear positioning – a unique, distinctive shape that conveys the essence of the product and the brand message, branding with a logo or graphic elements, and signature colors that make the product recognizable. The shape and design of the packaging can express the cosmetics segment, product features, or brand positioning (e.g., pharmacy, eco-friendly, scientifically proven, playful, niche, etc.).2. High degree of customization through decoration (MIRAN offers silkscreen printing, foil stamping, full-color printing, digital varnish, and pad printing). This helps achieve a premium look and protects the product from copying. However, exclusive packaging can also be designed to accommodate a label (more common in the budget segment, household chemicals, etc.).
3. Functionality and ease of removal – for innovative products with unique removal methods or a consistency uncharacteristic for the segment, it is often difficult to find a standard closure. Therefore, exclusive packaging is produced, including special caps and lids, including those with counterfeit protection, first-opening control, or a special opening shape and diameter.
4. Emotional value – the packaging itself becomes part of the product's overall impression, enhancing its prestige and building brand recognition.

Design and production of injection moulds
Mould production.
At various times, the production of exclusive packaging accounted for 40 to 70% of all packaging produced.MIRAN manufactures highly complex molds for large-scale production of packaging made from polyethylene, polypropylene, and other materials. Our tool shop specializes in the production of injection moulds and blow moulds, including highly complex and hot runner moulds:
▪︎ Injection moulding is used to produce jars, lids, caps, spatulas, and other injection molded products.
▪︎ Blow moulding is used primarily for bottles and sometimes jars.
Design and development of injection moulds.
Clients come to us with varying degrees of completion: from a concept or prototype to a complete set of drawings. We can refine the design, prepare engineering documentation, perform 3D modeling, and develop a technological solution for serial production.
MIRAN injection moulds can be used both at our own facilities and at the customer's.
Why order moulds from MIRAN?
1. Cheaper than European counterparts and significantly higher quality than Chinese moulds.
Moulds from MIRAN are a cost-effective business solution and offer maximum return on investment, as they are significantly cheaper than European counterparts while maintaining the same quality. Our moulds are designed for millions of clamping cycles, unlike "disposable" Chinese moulds, which do not guarantee high quality and are often not repairable.
2. Predictable mold pricing and cost-effectiveness.
We will design the product and mold to fit your existing equipment. You will understand the exact cost, cost-effectiveness, cycle time, productivity, and mould life in advance.
3. In-depth technical expertise, consultations during the development stage.
Our in-house R&D team, comprised of highly experienced professionals with 7 to 37 years of industry experience, ensures optimal solutions and avoids errors and "low-tech" solutions.
4. We produce fully customized packaging at our facility.
MIRAN's internal technical specifications are stricter than GOST standards, so when you order packaging from us, you'll receive superior quality products with first-class customization (any color, decoration, the ability to use our standard closures, etc.).
5. Warranty and reliable cooperation.
With timely maintenance and repair, you can produce millions of high-quality products and even more, both at our facility and at your own. We provide warranty and post-warranty repairs, organize high-quality mould acceptance at the customer's facility, or conduct acceptance at MIRAN in the presence of their representatives. Every mould we produce undergoes technical inspection and multiple tests. MIRAS specialists are constantly working to improve technological processes, taking into account the experience of major domestic and foreign mould manufacturers.
Mould Costs
The economic impact of a custom mould depends on many factors, but in our experience, it is primarily achieved with annual production volumes of 300,000 or more packaging units. However, smaller quantities can be produced at the customer's request. Minimum quantities are: ✔︎ for injection moulded products from 10,000 units;
✔︎ for blow moulded products from 20,000-30,000 units, depending on the packaging type.
The cost of a plastic injection mold and a blow mold can vary significantly. Mould manufacturing costs are calculated individually based on a wide range of factors, including product size, design complexity, number of cavities, soft-touch surface options, materials, and more. We can offer flexible payment terms for mold costs.
Mould Manufacturing Lead Times
The actual production time is discussed at the time of request, taking into account the current workload of the tooling department. Estimated production times are:
✔︎ Injection mould - 120-150 days;
✔︎ Blow mould - 45-60 days.
